FISKE NAMED DIRECTOR, OFFICE OF MEDIA RELATIONS Washington, DC – FCC Chairman Michael Powell today announced the appointment of David H. Fiske as Director of the Office of Media Relations. Fiske has served as Acting Director of the office since January. Chairman Powell said, “I am very pleased that David will continue in his role as the agency’s chief spokesman. His background and experience will continue to be a valuable asset at the FCC as we deal with the many complex issues facing us in the coming months and years.” Fiske came to the Commission in April 1995 as a Deputy Director of the former Office of Public Affairs. Before joining the agency he was a reporter for Warren Publications where he covered the FCC for Communications Daily and Television Digest. He also was in public relations in the private sector, served as Director of Government and Media Relations at CBS, Press Officer and Assistant Staff Director for Information Services at the Federal Election Commission and Press Secretary and Legislative Assistant to U. S. Senator Richard S. Schweiker of Pennsylvania. He received a B. A. from Wesleyan University and an LL. B. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. - FCC - 1
