Abernathy relaunched her Commission website today with several new features to make information and her office more accessible. "With the help and ingenuity of the Commission's talented webmasters, I've added several new applications to my website that I hope will aid consumers, help increase the accessibility of my office and assist me in my role as Commissioner," said Commissioner Abernathy. The Commissioner particularly highlighted the "News You Can Use" page. In describing "News You Can Use," Commissioner Abernathy stated, "Each month on the web and in my speeches around the country I will focus on one public interest issue -- to raise awareness outside the Beltway and highlight the Commission's role and my own views on the issue." This month's issue is slamming. The Commissioner's website now allows for a web- based meeting request form through which interested parties may request meetings with the Commissioner and her staff. "I encourage all parties with matters before the Commission to use this new medium to request a meeting with my office. Hopefully this will make it even easier for us to gather additional information," stated Commissioner Abernathy. The website also features a new personalized links section, a photo gallery, and an intern page. The Commissioner plans for the website to continue to evolve and improve over time. "This is a learning process. I encourage people to visit my website at http:// www. fcc. gov/ commissioners/ abernathy/ and to email me if they have any suggestions for further improvements." - FCC - 1
