Thomas, Chief of the Office of Engineering and Technology (OET) at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has named Jeffery M. Goldthorp Chief of OET’s Network Technology Division. Mr. Goldthorp will also represent OET on the FCC’s Homeland Security Policy Council and serve as the designated Federal official for both the Network Reliability and Interoperability Council and the Technology Advisory Council. The Network Technology Division is responsible for providing the Commission with policy and technical guidance on network- related technology issues. The Division examines Internet, data, and voice networks and architectures across a broad platform of technologies. “I am very pleased to have Jeff at OET,” remarked Mr. Thomas. “His expert knowledge of network technologies and management experience will be great assets to the Office as we address the challenging issues involved in the deployment of broadband technologies and advanced communications networks.” Prior to joining the FCC, Mr. Goldthorp served as General Manager of Network Access Engineering Services at Telcordia Technologies. In this role, he led an expert- based consulting practice that provided systems engineering services on emerging network access technologies. Mr. Goldthorp has over 17 years experience in developing and working with network technologies through a variety of management and technical positions at Telcordia Technologies. Mr. Goldthorp received a Masters in Electrical Engineering from Princeton University and a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Lehigh University.
