C. –Kenneth Ferree, chief of the newly created Media Bureau at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), today named Deborah E. Klein as Chief of Staff of the Media Bureau, and responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Bureau's operations. Klein most recently served as the Chief of the Consumer Protection and Competition Division of the Cable Services Bureau, and has held various positions within the FCC since 1994. Klein joins William Johnson, Robert Ratcliffe and Roy Stewart among the senior management of the Media Bureau. Ferree said, “Deborah has been instrumental in making the transition to the new Bureau smooth and efficient. I appreciate her efforts and look forward to working with her as we converge two talented staffs into one team.” As Chief of the Consumer Protection and Competition Division, Klein supervised the Cable Services Bureau’s responsibility in policy and adjudicatory matters involving multichannel video programming distribution. She has led a range of the Commission’s rulemaking proceedings addressing competition in areas including digital must carry, program access and navigation devices. Prior to joining the FCC, Klein served as an attorney at the Federal Trade Commission in the Bureau of Competition, Non- Merger Litigation from 1990 until 1994, working on antitrust investigations and litigation. Klein is a graduate of the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, with a B. A. in Political Science, and the University of Toledo College of Law, where she received a J.
