CHERRY NAMED DEPUTY CHIEF, OFFICE OF PLANS AND POLICY Washington, D. C. –Barbara A. Cherry has been named Deputy Chief of the Office of Plans and Policy. Dr. Cherry has extensive experience in telecommunications industry policy issues both as a scholar and industry participant. Most recently, she was Associate Director of the James H. and Mary B. Quello Center for Telecommunications Management and Law at Michigan State University. Prior to her academic career, she was the Director for Public Policy Studies at Ameritech focusing on federal and state regulatory issues including universal service, regulatory reform, and implementation of the Communications Act of 1996. Dr. Cherry also worked for AT& T, most of that time specializing in state telecommunications law and regulation. Cherry received a B. S. in Economics from the University of Michigan, an M. A. in Economics and Law from Harvard University, a J. D. from Harvard Law School, and a Ph. D. in Communication Studies from Northwestern University. Dr. Cherry is a member of the Illinois Bar and the Federal Communications Bar Association. -FCC- 1
