Thomas, Chief of the Office of Engineering and Technology (OET) at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has named Ira Keltz Deputy Chief of OET’s Policy and Rules Division (PRD). Mr. Keltz will join Alan Scrime, Chief and Geraldine Matise, Deputy Chief in managing the Policy and Rules Division where he previously served as Senior Technical Advisor and as a Staff Engineer. PRD is responsible for promulgating rules pertaining to the allocation of electromagnetic spectrum and technical issues pertaining to radio equipment and electronic devices. The Division also handles the coordination of all spectrum issues with the Federal Government on behalf of the Commission. Since joining the Commission in 1994, Mr. Keltz has also held positions within the FCC's Wireless Telecommunications Bureau, where he managed the implementation of the Bureau's Universal Licensing System and worked on issues related to both private and commercial radio services. Prior to the FCC, Mr. Keltz held positions with Loral Advanced Projects and LSA, Inc. Mr. Keltz holds a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from George Washington University and a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan. - FCC - 1
