Copps today announced that Alexis Johns has been detailed to his office to assist in handling media and consumer protection issues. Ms. Johns, currently serving in the Competition Policy Division of the Wireline Competition Bureau, joined the Commission in May 1996 as an attorney in the Cable Services Bureau. During her tenure at the Commission, she has also held positions in the Mass Media Bureau, Enforcement Bureau, and the Compliance and Information Bureau. Before coming to the Commission, Ms. Johns was an attorney with the law firm of Cooley Godward. Ms. Johns received a J. D. from Stanford Law School and an A. B. in Political Science from Stanford University. Commissioner Copps stated, “I am delighted that Alex will be assisting in my office. Her expertise across a broad range of issues at the Commission will be enormously valuable as we address complex convergence and ownership questions.” Susanna Zwerling, who is currently serving as Media and Consumer Protection Legal Advisor, is completing several pending projects and then plans to leave the Commission. - FCC - 1
