FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE NEWS MEDIA CONTACT: July 16, 2002 David Fiske at (202) 418- 0513 KYLE DIXON NAMED DEPUTY BUREAU CHIEF IN THE MEDIA BUREAU AND SPECIAL COUNSEL TO THE CHAIRMAN ON BROADBAND POLICY Washington, DC -- Kyle Dixon, Legal Advisor to Chairman Powell on common carrier and broadband issues, has been named Deputy Bureau Chief in the Media Bureau and Special Counsel to the Chairman for Broadband Policy. In that capacity, he will be responsible for coordinating all Commission broadband activities across the various bureaus, including the Media Bureau, the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau and the Wireline Competition Bureau, among others. Powell said, “Development and implementation of broadband policy across all the delivery platforms available to the consumer is one of the most critical priorities of the Commission, and I am delighted that someone of Kyle Dixon’s knowledge and ability is willing to take on the task of helping to coordinate this many- faceted subject. He has been an invaluable advisor in my personal office and will be a tremendous asset to everyone in the Commission in his new role as Special Counsel for Broadband Policy.” Dixon joined then- Commissioner Powell’s personal staff in 1997 as Legal Advisor on common carrier and broadband issues. Prior to serving as Legal Advisor, Dixon served as Attorney- Advisor in the Policy Division of the Common Carrier Bureau. Before coming to the Commission, Dixon worked as an attorney in private practice with Hogan & Hartson LLP. He also has served as judicial clerk to the Honorable Richard D. Cudahy of the U. S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and as Adjunct Faculty at the Georgetown University Law Center in communications law and policy. Dixon received his received his B.
