Tenhula, Senior Legal Advisor to Chairman Michael K. Powell, has been named Co- Director of the Commission’s Spectrum Policy Task Force. In his new position, Mr. Tenhula will be working closely with Dr. Paul Kolodzy, current Director of the Task Force, on the next phases of its mission. Mr. Tenhula will be primarily responsible for coordinating all Commission spectrum policy activities across the various bureaus, with Congress and with the administration. Powell said, “Peter has played an invaluable role in my personal office over the last five years. His wise counsel has guided me through many difficult and important decisions on wireless, international and defense issues. Working with the Spectrum Policy Task Force and other parts of the government, Peter will help drive the creation and implementation of spectrum policies that reflect the realities of today's technologies and market environment while promoting new and innovative technologies that will directly benefit the American public.” Tenhula joined then- Commissioner Powell’s staff as a Legal Advisor in 1997. A 12- year FCC veteran, Tenhula started his career at the FCC in 1990 as a staff attorney in the Video Services Division of the Mass Media Bureau. From 1991- 1995, he worked in the Administrative Law Division of the FCC’s Office of General Counsel, and from 1995- 1997 he served as Special Counsel to the FCC’s General Counsel. Before joining the Commission, Tenhula served as a legal intern with U. S. Representative Michael G. Oxley and the National Association of Broadcasters. Tenhula received a B. A. degree in Telecommunications from Indiana University, Bloomington, and a law degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.
