Since May 2002, she has been the bureau’s Associate Chief for Intergovernmental Affairs. In her new capacity she will be responsible for all the consumer outreach functions of the bureau. She will continue to oversee the Commission's interaction with other federal agencies, and tribal, state and local governments. K. Dane Snowden, Chief of CGB, said, "I am delighted that Kris will be the taking on this expanded role. She has done an excellent job as Associate Chief for Intergovernmental Affairs and her extensive background in FCC policy and intergovernmental issues will be a tremendous asset in her new position.” Monteith has been at the FCC since 1997. Before coming to CGB, she had been Chief of the Policy Division of the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau and Deputy Chief of the former Common Carrier Bureau’s Competitive Pricing Division. Before coming to the FCC she worked at the law firms of McDermott, Will & Emery and Keller and Heckman. Her private practice experience focused on telecommunications and general litigation.
