C. – Today, William Maher, Chief of the Wireline Competition Bureau of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), made the following personnel announcement. Katherine Schroder has been appointed Senior Advisor to the Wireline Competition Bureau Chief, William Maher. Ms. Schroder will advise the Bureau Chief on a variety of issues, including special projects involving the universal service fund (USF). Ms. Schroder’s duties will commence upon her return from parental leave. Ms. Schroder previously served as Chief of the Telecommunications Access Policy Division, where she was responsible for developing policies for reform and oversight of the Commission’s universal service fund. Before becoming Chief of TAPD, Ms. Schroder served as Deputy Chief of the Division with primary responsibility for the high-cost and low- income universal service support mechanisms. Ms. Schroder also served as Counsel to the Bureau Chief in the Common Carrier Bureau, with responsibility for universal service, pricing, and accounting issues. She also served as an attorney in the Policy and Program Planning Division, and an attorney in the Competitive Pricing Division. Ms. Schroder joined the Federal Communications Commission in 1994 after receiving her J. D. from Harvard Law School, and her B. A., magna cum laude, from Wellesley College. -FCC- 1
