C. – The Wireline Competition Bureau (WCB) of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) today announced that it has successfully implemented its new Electronic ARMIS Filing System (EAFS). The EAFS became operational on April 1, 2003. The EAFS is a web- based application that allows users with web browsers and Internet access to obtain ARMIS data in various formats, and can be accessed at the following web page: http:// www. fcc. gov/ wcb/ armis. ARMIS is the FCC’s automated system for collecting financial and operating data – such as revenues, expenses, network infrastructure, and service quality – from incumbent local exchange carriers (LECs) that are subject to ARMIS reporting requirements. The new system provides a number of expanded capabilities for obtaining ARMIS data. Among the features that are available are: 1. preset reports for financial, service quality, infrastructure data, and the ability to print or save paper facsimiles of the reports; 2. customized reports based on user- selected fields; and, 3. raw data as filed by the carriers in their ASCII files. In addition, information about the carriers' filings is available through various data information reports and related documents. For additional information and tips on how to use the new system, the following web site will take you to the “Getting Started” section for EAFS: http:// www. fcc. gov/ wcb/ eafs/ help/ get_ start. pdf. -FCC- Wireline Competition Bureau Staff Contact: Fatina Franklin at 202- 418- 0840.
