SEIDEL NAMED DEPUTY BUREAU CHIEF OF THE WIRELESS TELECOMMUNICATIONS BUREAU Washington, DC – John Muleta, Chief of the FCC’s Wireless Telecommunications Bureau has announced that Catherine W. Seidel will become a Deputy Bureau Chief. In her new position, Seidel will oversee matters before the Bureau’s Public Safety and Private Wireless Division as well as the Bureau’s Policy Division. “I am delighted Cathy has agreed to take this position at such an exciting time for Bureau,” said Muleta. “Her Commission and industry experience will be tremendously valuable as we take on the difficult policy issues shaping this industry.” Most recently Seidel served as Associate Bureau Chief and Chief of Staff for the Bureau. In that position Seidel oversaw Bureau strategic planning, assisted the Bureau Chief in managing the Bureau, and advised the Wireless Bureau Chief on a number of key policy matters. Prior to that position Seidel was Chief of the Telecommunications Consumers Division of the FCC’s Enforcement Bureau. Before that she served as Chief of the Wireless Bureau’s Enforcement and Consumer Information Division. She has also held a number of other positions in Bureaus at the FCC, including the Common Carrier and the Mass Media Bureaus. Before to joining the FCC in 1994, Seidel spent almost 10 years at Bell Atlantic. Seidel holds a B. S. in Economics from Colorado State University, a Masters in Administrative Sciences from the Johns Hopkins University and a J. D. from the University of Maryland - FCC - 1
