C. – William Maher, Chief of the Wireline Competition Bureau of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), today made the following personnel announcement. Josh Swift has been named Legal Counsel to the Wireline Competition Bureau Chief. In this position, Mr. Swift will advise the Mr. Maher on pricing and other wireline issues. Since August 2001, Mr. Swift has served as an Attorney- Advisor in the Pricing Policy Division of the Wireline Competition Bureau. He has worked on a variety of pricing matters, including many Bell Operating Company (BOC) in- region long distance applications and payphone items and served as the team leader on pricing issues for several BellSouth and Verizon section 271 applications. Before joining the Commission in 2001, Mr. Swift was a trial attorney in the U. S. Department of Justice, where he managed both district and appellate court litigation. Prior to this, Mr. Swift was an associate in the D. C. office of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP and a law clerk for the Honorable Benson Everett Legg, a federal district court judge in Baltimore. Mr. Swift received his B. A. from Williams College, his M. A. from Middlebury College, and his J. D. from Cornell Law School. 1
