C. – Today, William Maher, Chief of the Wireline Competition Bureau of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), announced that Rodger Woock has been named Chief Economist, Wireline Competition Bureau. In this position, Dr. Woock will advise the Bureau Chief on economic issues and lead efforts to better understand the market effects of issues before the Bureau. “I am pleased that Rodger has joined the Bureau’s management and policy leadership. His expertise will make an already- deep team of Bureau economists even stronger,” Mr. Maher said. Dr. Woock has spent fifteen years in the telecommunications, cable and wireless industries. Most recently, Dr. Woock was Director, R& D Engineering at AT& T Broadband Labs in Denver, Colorado. He has been a Member of Technical Staff at Bellcore, and was a Director at US WEST Advanced Technologies and MediaOne Labs. Dr. Woock has worked in diverse telecommunications and economic disciplines, including product development and service design, enterprise and program valuation, systems and operations analysis and improvement, customer behavioral scoring, auction optimization, competitive technology and financial analysis, public policy and regulatory analysis. Dr. Woock has Ph. D. and M. S. degrees in Economics from the University of Illinois and a B. A. in Economics from the University of Colorado. - FCC - 1
