 FCC  ISSUES  UPDATED  CONSUMER  ADVISORY  ON  FCC  DO-  NOT-  CALL  RULES 


 Because  of  the  series  of  judicial  and  legislative  actions  occurring  since  the  National  Do-Not-  Call  Registry  went  into  effect  on  October  1,  2003,  the  Consumer  &  Governmental  Affairs 
 Bureau  of  the  Federal  Communications  Commission  today  issued  an  update  of  the  consumer  advisory  originally  issued  on  September  30,  2003. 


 The  advisory,  entitled  “Do-  Not-  Call  Rules  –  What  Consumers  Can  Do,”  outlines  specific  steps  consumers  can  take  if  they  have  put  their  names  on  the  National  Do-  Not-  Call  Registry  and 
 are  called  by  telemarketers  on  or  after  October  1,  2003.  It  provides  information  about  when  there  is  a  violation  of  the  FCC  do-  not-  call  rules,  and  specifics  about  how  to  file  a  complaint.
