C. 20554 News Media Information 202 / 418- 0500 Internet: http:// www. fcc. gov TTY: 1- 888- 835- 5322 DA- 03- 3655 November 14, 2003 INTERNATIONAL BUREAU LAUNCHES DESIGN PHASE OF ENHANCEMENTS TO ITS ELECTRONIC FILING SYSTEM, IBFS The International Bureau will host a public meeting to officially kick off the design phase for planned enhancements to its electronic filing system, IBFS. The meeting is schedule to be held at FCC Headquarters facility (445 12 th St., SW, Washington, DC 20554) on Friday, November 21, 2003 at 2: 00 p. m. in Room CY- B418/ 511. The session is designed for members of the public and industry, who are interested in participating in the process of redesigning various components of IBFS, primarily resulting from satellite reform measures adopted earlier this year by the Commission. Also at this session, the Bureau will recognize users who have played a significant role in collaboration efforts in the last phase. Over the next few months the Bureau will undertake design and development of a new EZ Form for satellite earth stations and a Schedule S technical form for satellite space stations, building upon the requirements gathered previously. Additional enhancements required by the adoption of the satellite reform order and requested by the user community will be undertaken following the completion of the EZ Form and Schedule S. Following the collaborative model used to design the original IBFS system and all subsequent enhancements, the Bureau is encouraging those who would like to play a significant role in designing a state- of- the- art, interactive, user- oriented, electronic filing system to get involved and serve as members of the design team. “I am looking forward to starting this new chapter in our continued partnership with our customers both inside and outside the FCC,” says Donald Abelson, IB Bureau Chief. Interested parties should contact Mary Jane Solomon on 202- 418- 0593 or via e- mail at MaryJane. Solomon@ fcc. gov to register to attend this meeting. 1
