C. – Today, William Maher, Chief of the Wireline Competition Bureau of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), made the following personnel announcement. Narda Jones has been named Deputy Division Chief of the Telecommunications Access Policy Division of the Wireline Competition Bureau. In this position, Ms. Jones will oversee the policies and procedures governing the universal service mechanism for the schools and libraries program. Since February 2003, Ms. Jones served as the Legal Counsel to the Wireline Competition Bureau Chief, primarily responsible for universal service issues. Previously, Ms. Jones was a Senior Attorney Advisor in the Telecommunications Access Policy Division of the Wireline Competition Bureau. She has worked on a variety of universal service matters, including reforming the schools and libraries universal service support mechanism, universal service contribution methodology, rural health care and fund administration. She also served as the team leader on the Commission's implementation of the Children's Internet Protection Act. Before joining the Commission in 2001, Ms Jones served as an Assistant Minnesota Attorney General and advised the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission on telecommunications and energy issues. Ms. Jones also served as a criminal prosecutor in the Minneapolis City Attorney's Office. Ms. Jones received a B. A. in Government from Wesleyan University and a J. D. from Brooklyn Law School. 1
