 FCC  LOGS  IN  NEARLY  10,000  COMPLAINTS  SINCE  DO-  NOT-  CALL  REGISTRY  BECAME  EFFECTIVE  ON  OCTOBER  1,  2003 


 Washington,  DC  --  Since  implementation  of  the  National  Do-  Not-  Call  Registry  on  October  1,  2003,  the  FCC  has  received  9884  informal  complaints  about  violations.  This 
 reflects  complaints  processed  as  of  February  17,  2004. 
 The  Commission  has  issued  eight  citations  as  a  result  of  violations  of  the  National  Do-  Not-  Call  Registry  rules.  Details  of  these  actions,  as  well  as  earlier  actions,

 The  breakdown  of  complaints  received  by  month  is: 
 October  2003  –  4341  complaints  November  2003  –  2228  complaints 
 December  2003  -  1192  complaints  January  2004  -  1256  complaints 
 February  2004  -  867  complaints  (as  of  Feb  17). 
 The  existence  of  a  complaint  does  not  necessarily  indicate  wrongdoing  by  the  company  at  issue.
