DIRECTV Enterprises, LLC E040024 SES- LFS- 20040112- 00023 E Class of Station: Other License to communicate with a Foreign Satellite Nature of Service: Other On January 12, 2004, DIRECTV Enterprises, LLC filed a Blanket Receive Only Earth Station Application to provide DBS service to the U. S. market in BSS spectrum from the 72.5º W. L. orbital location using the DIRECTV 5 satellite. In its application, DIRECTV requests that the Commission find it in the public interest to allow 1,000,000 receive- only earth stations to access DIRECTV 5, which will provide service from the Canadian BSS position at 72.5° W. L. The DIRECTV 5 satellite will be licensed by the Government of Canada to Telesat Canada. DIRECTV will retain use of the transponder capacity of DIRECTV 5 to provide service to the U. S. DIRECTV 5 will use the 12.2- 12.7 GHz downlink frequency bands that have been allocated and are currently used in Region 2 (including the United States) for DBS. As of the date of the release of this Public Notice, we redesignate the ex parte status of this proceeding from restricted to "permit- but- disclose," pursuant to Section 1.1200( a) of our rules, 47 C.
