 FCC  Chairman  Michael  K.  Powell  Praises  National  Governors  Association  Efforts  to  Accelerate  the  Deployment  of  Wireless  E911 


 Washington,  DC  –  At  today’s  meeting  of  the  FCC  E911  Coordination  Initiative,  the  National  Governor’s  Association  released  a  report  entitled  “State  Strategies  for  Accelerating 
 Enhanced  911  Implementation.” 
 In  response,  FCC  Chairman  Michael  K.  Powell  issued  the  following  statement: 
 “I  commend  the  National  Governors  Association  for  their  continuing  efforts  on  E911  deployment.  This  report  is  an  important  step  forward  in  accelerating  the  rollout  of  emergency 
 services  that  will  enable  public  safety  personnel  to  more  accurately  locate  911  callers.  I  look  forward  to  our  continued  partnership  as  we  work  to  ensure  all  Americans  have  access  to  this 
 technology  that  promises  to  make  our  Nation  safer.”
