 and  public  safety  applications  of  satellites  in  rural  areas. 
 As  this  very  brief  overview  illustrates,  security  issues  have  become  pervasive  in 
 the  field  of  telecommunications.  Again,  I  am  delighted  to  participate  in  this  event  on 
 behalf  of  the  FCC,  and  we  stand  ready  to  do  everything  in  our  power  to  help  DHS  and 
 other  agencies  ensure  that  critical  infrastructure  is  secure  and  reliable.  Thank  you  very
