C. – The Federal Communications Commission’s Localism Task Force today announced the hearing date and location of its next broadcast localism hearing: Date: Wednesday, July 21, 2004 Location: Monterey Conference Center Steinbeck Forum 1 Portola Plaza Monterey, California 93940 Further details will be released as they become available. The purpose of the hearing is to gather information from consumers, industry, civic organizations, and others on broadcasters’ service to their local communities. An important focus of the hearing will be to gather information and to conduct outreach for the ongoing nationwide round of broadcast station license renewals. The designated speakers will include representatives from consumer and advocacy groups as well as broadcasters. The hearing format will enable members of the public to participate via an “open microphone” session. Open captioning will be provided for this event. Other reasonable accommodations for people with disabilities are available upon request.
