C. – Today, William Maher, Chief of the Wireline Competition Bureau of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), made the following personnel announcement. Rodger Woock has been named Chief of the Industry Analysis & Technology Division (IATD) of the Wireline Competition Bureau. In this position, Dr. Woock will lead IATD in developing and implementing procedures for monitoring the impact of policy decisions on the telecommunications industry and its users. The division develops requirements for carriers to report operating and financial data, and formulates methods for utilizing data already collected by the FCC, carriers, state regulatory bodies and others. IATD also administrators CALEA for wireline carriers, and the Part 68 regulatory requirements, other than those specifically related to hearing aid compatibility issues. Since September 2003, Dr. Woock has served as the Chief Economist to the Wireline Competition Bureau Chief, providing economic analysis and advice on a variety of issues including universal service, broadband business models, intercarrier compensation and competition policy. Dr. Woock will integrate these duties with those of his new position. Before joining the Commission in 2003, Dr. Woock spent fifteen years in the telecommunications, cable and wireless industries. Dr. Woock was a Director at AT& T Broadband Labs, MediaOne Labs and US WEST Advanced Technologies in Denver, Colorado. He has been a Member of Technical Staff at Bellcore. Dr. Woock has Ph. D. and M. S. degrees in Economics from the University of Illinois and a B. A. in Economics from the University of Colorado. 1
