News Media Information 202 / 418- 0500 Internet: http:// www. fcc. gov TTY: 1- 888- 835- 5322 Released August 9, 2004 Official FY 2004 Regulatory Fee Payment Window Opens Tomorrow— Fees Due No Later than August 19 The Federal Communications Commission today reminded the public that the FY 2004 regulatory fee payment window will officially open on August 10 and close on August 19. All individuals and organizations that are required to pay annual regulatory fees must make their payment no later than 11: 59 PM on August 19, 2004 if they wish to avoid a statutorily- required 25 percent late payment penalty. All payments must include a FCC Registration Number (FRN) to be processed. The FCC has historically collected fees in September, but this has sometimes impeded our ability to collect all regulatory fees due by the end of the fiscal year. Many of the licensees required to pay regulatory fees have already received written notice of the payment they are required to make. However, because not all licensees who owe fees will receive a notice, every individual or organization that has a license or permit from the Commission is strongly encouraged to check the agency’s Internet web site at http:// www. fcc. gov/ fees/ regfees. html for specific information on payment of FY 2004 regulatory fees. Beginning August 20, 2004, the Commission will begin an aggressive effort to collect overdue regulatory fees, including a 25 percent penalty, from all those who have not paid their FY 2004 fees. Licensees also should be aware that the Commission’s new “red- light” rules implementing the Debt Collection Improvement Act,” go into effect on October 1.
