C. 20554 Released: August 24, 2004 FCC CANCELS AND RESCHEDULES THE AUGUST 25, 2004, DISCUSSION ON THE DEBT COLLECTION IMPROVEMENT ACT RULES AND RULES GOVERNING APPLICATIONS OR OTHER REQUEST FOR BENEFITS BY DELINQUENT DEBTORS The August 25, 2004, discussion of the new debt collection rules is cancelled. The discussion is postponed until September 9, 2004. The new rules went into effect June 16, 2004, except for changes to rules 1.1112, 1.1116, 1.1161 and 1.1164 and newly adopted rule 1.1910 (relating to the handling of applications and other requests by delinquent debtors), which will go into effect October 1, 2004. The forum will provide an overview of the newly amended and adopted rules, as well as cover other business practices which will impact the processing of applications or request for benefits. The event is open to the public, and seating is available on a first- come, first- served basis. The event date is Thursday, September 9, 2004, 2 p. m. until 4: 30 p. m.
