McCarrick@ fcc. gov HOMELAND SECURITY: MEDIA SECURITY AND RELIABILITY COUNCIL TO MEET TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 2004 Washington, D. C. – The FCC’s Media Security and Reliability Council (MSRC) will hold the second meeting under its renewed charter on Tuesday, November 16, 2004, from 10: 00 a. m. – 11: 30 a. m., at the Federal Communications Commission, in the Commission Meeting Room at 445 12 th Street, S. W., Washington, D. C. During the meeting MSRC working groups will present interim reports to Council members. MSRC II is a Federal Advisory Committee that reports to FCC Chairman Michael K. Powell. It is chaired by David J. Barrett, President and Chief Executive Officer of Hearst- Argyle Television, Inc. Chairman Powell initially formed MSRC following the events of September 11, 2001, in order to study, develop and report on best practices designed to assure the optimal reliability, robustness and security of the broadcast and multichannel video programming distribution industries. MSRC is comprised of senior representatives of mass media companies, cable television and satellite service providers, trade associations, public safety representatives and other related entities. Meeting Details: Members of the general public may attend the meeting. The FCC will attempt to accommodate as many people as possible. The public may submit written comments before the meeting to Barbara Kreisman, the Commission’s Designated Federal Officer for MSRC II. The meeting site is fully accessible to people using wheelchairs or other mobility aids.
