Powell said, “I must regretfully announce that Barbara Douglas has decided to move on from her position as Director of the Commission’s Office of Workplace Diversity. Fostering a diverse workplace has always been a top priority for me at the FCC. I’d like to thank Barbara for her tireless efforts to promote equal employment opportunities, affirmative employment and other diversity matters. I am delighted to know that Barbara will now be pursuing a long- term goal of creating mentoring and networking opportunities for women of color in the legal profession.” Douglas was named Director of the Office of Workplace Diversity by Powell in October 2002. She was previously Associate Bureau Chief and Chief of Staff in the FCC’s Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau. Prior to joining the Commission, Douglas served as vice president of America's Promise - The Alliance for Youth, a national, not- for- profit organization.
