 POLICY  BRANCH  INFORMATION 


 The  applications  listed  below  have  been  found,  upon  initial  review,  to  be  acceptable  for  filing.  The  Commission  reserves  the  right  to  return  any  of  the  applications  if,  upon  further  examination,  it  is  determined  the  application  is  not  in 
 conformance  with  the  Commission's  rules  or  its  policies.  Consideration  of  each  satellite  application  in  this  Public  Notice  may  depend  on  the  Commission's  action  on  another  satellite  application  earlier  in  the  queue.  Petitions,  oppositions  and

 DIRECTV  Enterprises,  LLC 


 DIRECTV  Enterprises,  LLC  (DIRECTV)  has  filed  an  application  for  authority  to  operate  DIRECTV  5,  a  satellite  in  the  Direct 
 Broadcast  Satellite  (DBS)  service.  This  satellite  will  replace  the  DIRECTV  6  satellite  at  the  nominal  110º  W.  L.  orbital  location. 
 DIRECTV  6  will  be  retired  to  a  storage  orbit. 


 From  its  launch  in  May  2002  until  September  2004,  the  DIRECTV  5  satellite  operated  under  a  Commission  license  at  the  119º  W.  L. 
 orbital  location.  See  DIRECTV  Enterprises,  Inc.,  Order  and  Authorization,  15  FCC  Rcd  23630  (Int'l  Bur.  2000).  The  DIRECTV  5 
 satellite  currently  operates  under  Canadian  authorization  at  the  72.  5º  W.  L.  orbital  location,  where  it  provides  local-  into-  local 
 programming  to  DIRECTV  subscribers  in  25  United  States  markets.  See  DIRECTV  Enterprises,  Inc.  Order  and  Authorization,  19  FCC
