The Commission reserves the right to return any of the applications if, upon further examination, it is determined the application is not in conformance with the Commission's rules or its policies. Consideration of each satellite application in this Public Notice may depend on the Commission's action on another satellite application earlier in the queue. S2181 SAT- MOD- 20050621- 00132 E Modification 06/ 21/ 2005 18: 59: 10: 27000 Date Filed: SES Americom, Inc. SES Americom, Inc. (SES Americom) has filed an application for a modification of its license to operate the AMC- 16 geostationary Fixed Satellite Service Ku/ Ka- band hybrid satellite at the 85° W. L. orbital location (See File No. SAT- MOD- 20040227- 00022 for current authorization). In its application, SES Americom makes three major requests. First, SES Americom seeks authority to relocate AMC- 16 temporarily to 118.75° W. L., where it will operate in the 11.7- 12.2 GHz (space- to- Earth) 14.0- 14.5 GHz (Earth- to- space) under the direction and control of Telesat Canada pursuant to an authorization from Industry Canada to Telesat Canada, pending the launch of Telesat Canada’s Anik F3, currently scheduled for the third quarter of 2006. While at the 118.75° W. L., SES Americom will not activate AMC- 16’s Ka- band payload 18.6- 18.8 GHz (space- to- Earth), 19.7- 20.2 GHz (space- to- Earth), 28.4- 28.6 GHz (Earth- to- space) 29.5- 30.0 GHz (Earth- to- space). Second, SES Americom also requests authority to return the AMC- 16 satellite to the 85° W. L. orbital location and resume Ku- and Ka- band services from that location under SES Americom’s FCC license once the Anik F3 is operational at the 118.75° W. L. orbital location and customers are transitioned from AMC- 16 to Anik F3. Third, SES Americom seeks authority to perform TT& C using AMC- 16’s Ku- band TT& C frequencies during the drift from 85° W. L. to 118.75° W. L. and during the return drift from 118.75° W. L. back to 85° W. L. In connection with these requests, SES Americom seeks authority for AMC- 16 to cease Ka- band operations at the 85° W. L. for a period of more than 90 days, pursuant to Section 25.161( c) of the Commission’s Rules, 47 C. F. R. § 25.161( c). With respect to the Ku- band service from 85° W. L., SES Americom anticipates providing Ku- band operations using the AMC- 2 satellite during the period AMC- 16 would be operating at 118.7° W. L. Page 1 of 2 1 For more information concerning this Notice, contact the Satellite Division at 202- 418- 0719; TTY 202- 418- 2555. PanAmSat Licensee Corp. has filed an application for modification of its authority to oeprate its Galaxy 14 satellite to operate from 125.05° WL. rather than the 125.15° WL location authorized in File No. SAT- MOD- 20050215- 00039. The Galaxy 14 satellite would operate at the 5925 - 6425 MHz and 3700 - 4200 MHz frequency bands to provide U. S coverage. In addition, PanAmSat corrects the command frequency for Galaxy 14. The command frequency of the spacecraft is 6420.5 MHz rather than the previously specified value of 6424.5 MHz. S2422 SAT- MOD- 20050815- 00159 E Modification 08/ 15/ 2005 13: 43: 09: 06300 Date Filed: PanAmSat Licensee Corp. PanAmSat Licensee Corp. has filed an application for modification of its authorization to oeprate the Galaxy 12 satellite. In this application, Panamsat seek authority to operate its Galaxy 12 spacecraft from 125.15° WL on an interim basis and thereafter to operate the spacecraft from 125.25º WL as an in- orbit back- up for the western edge of the U. S. arc. Galaxy 12 provides U. S. coverage utilizing the 5925- 6425 MHz and 3700- 4200 MHz frequency bands. Galaxy 12 was originally licensed in March 2003 to operate from 74° W. L. (FCC File Nos.: (SAT- LOA- 20000929- 00136 & SAT- AMD- 20021107- 00203). Galaxy 12 presently operates at 125.05° W. L. where, pursuant to a grant of special temporary authority, it has been serving as the interim replacement for Galaxy 5. See FCC File No. SAT- STA- 20041215- 00220 (extension request pending). PanAmSat proposes to relocate Galaxy 12 to 125.15° W. L. following the successful launch of Galaxy 14 in August 2005 (Galaxy 14 will operate at 125.05° W. L.). From 125.15° W. L., Galaxy 12 will hand off communications traffic to Galaxy 14. Once hand- off has been completed, Galaxy 12 would be relocated to 125.25° W. L.
