MARTIN ANNOUNCES DEPARTURE OF DEPUTY GENERAL COUNSEL ERIC D. MILLER AND HIS INTENTION TO APPOINT JOSEPH R. PALMORE DEPUTY GENERAL COUNSEL Federal Communications Commission Chairman Kevin J. Martin announced today that Deputy General Counsel Eric D. Miller was leaving the agency to join the Office of the Solicitor General and that he would be replaced by Joseph R. Palmore. Of these announcements, Chairman Martin said, “I want to thank Eric for his many contributions to the Commission. He will be very much missed here, but I am pleased that the public will continue to benefit from his outstanding talents as an appellate advocate. I am also very pleased that Joe has agreed to take over for Eric. Joe has been a valuable member of the Commission’s legal team, and I look forward to his service in this new capacity.” Mr. Palmore has served as special counsel in the Commission’s Office of General Counsel since October 2005. Before joining the Commission, he was an appellate and communications litigator at Sidley Austin. He had previously served as a law clerk for Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg of the United States Supreme Court, Judge Dennis Jacobs of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and Judge John Gleeson of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. Mr. Palmore graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College and earned a J.D. and masters in history from the University of Virginia. # # #
