Washington, D.C. 20554 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE NEWS MEDIA CONTACT: April 24, 2007 Narda Jones at (202) 418-2489 FCC RELEASES 2005 INTERNATIONAL TRAFFIC DATA Washington, D.C. - The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) today released a report entitled 2005 International Telecommunications Data regarding traffic between the United States and other countries for international message telephone, private line, and miscellaneous services on a country-by-country basis. Statistical Findings · Facilities-based and facilities-resale traffic together increased 10.0% from 63.7 billion minutes in 2004 to 70.1 billion minutes in 2005. For purpose of categorizing traffic, a facilities-based carrier provides service using its own international transmission facilities, while a facilities-resale carrier provides service utilizing international circuits leased from other reporting international carriers. · U.S. billed revenues for international telephone, private line, and other miscellaneous services decreased 13.2% from 2004 to 2005.
