PRESS STATEMENT BY FCC COMMISSIONER MICHAEL J. COPPS ON SENATE 
COMMERCE COMMITTEE PASSAGE OF ‘PROTECTING CHILDREN FROM 
INDECENT PROGRAMMING ACT’
Washington, D.C. — In response to the Senate Commerce Committee’s passage of the
‘Protecting Children from Indecent Programming Act’, Commissioner Michael J. Copps issued 
the following statement:
"Today's action by the Senate Commerce Committee reflects the outrage millions 
of Americans feel when they and their children are so regularly ambushed by 
indecent language on television.  The people expect their airwaves to be put to 
better use."
