October 29, 2007 FCC Announces Panelists for Public Hearing On Localism at FCC Headquarters The Federal Communications Commission today announced further details of its previously announced Washington, DC hearing regarding localism (see announcement dated October 24, 2007). As previously announced, the Localism Hearing will include a presentation by the Media Bureau summarizing the record the Commission has received on the topic of localism, a panel presentation, and a period for public comment. The Localism Hearing will take place in the Commission Meeting Room, Room TW-C305, 445 12th Street, SW, Washington, D.C. and begin immediately following the open meeting which is scheduled to commence at 9am. The purpose of the hearing is to gather information from consumers, industry, civic organizations, and others on broadcasters’ service to their local communities. Along with competition and diversity, promoting localism is a key goal of the Commission’s media ownership rules.
