Martin announced that the Federal Communications Commission (Commission) is reconstituting the Federal-State Joint Conference on Advanced Services (Joint Conference). The Joint Conference was convened in 1999 as part of the Commission’s ongoing efforts to ensure that advanced services are deployed as rapidly as possible to all Americans. It serves as a forum for an ongoing dialogue among the Commission, state regulators, and local and regional entities regarding the deployment of advanced telecommunications capabilities. It is comprised of commissioners from state public utilities commissions and from the Federal Communications Commission. Chairman Kevin Martin announced today the designation of Commissioner Deborah Taylor Tate to serve as Chair of the Joint Conference. In addition, the Commission is soliciting nominations for state commission representatives from the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) for seats on the Joint Conference.
