The program will focus on the effect of the DTV transition on seniors. It will be held at the FCC Headquarters, 445 12th St., SW, Washington, DC. It is open to the public. The program will run from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Congresswoman Norton will address the audience and WUSA, Channel 9, anchorwoman J.C. Hayward will be the Mistress of Ceremonies. Myra Dandridge of the National Association of Broadcasters will demonstrate how a digital-to-analog converter box works and Dr. Francine Jefferson of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration will provide information on the DTV Converter Box Coupon Program. In addition, Roger Goldblatt of the FCC will present an interactive DTV quiz for the audience. The program will also feature live music and an exercise segment. After February 17, 2009, full-power television stations will broadcast in digital only. This program will explain what, if anything, seniors must do to be ready for the transition. - FCC -
