FCC Commissioner Tate Receives National 2008 Cable’s Leaders in Learning Award Tate Joined Education Leaders from Around the Country For Gala Celebration June 18th at the Library of Congress Gala Was Hosted by Nick Clooney, Journalist and Host, AmericanLife TV Washington, D.C. – Deborah Taylor Tate, Commissioner, Federal Communications Commission (FCC), was honored with a 2008 Cable’s Leaders in Learning Award during a Gala at the Library of Congress on June 18. Commissioner Tate was recognized for her abiding commitment to education, her advocacy of media literacy for families in today's highly sophisticated television, online, and media environment, and her strong support of technology as a tool for better teaching and learning. Cable in the Classroom, the cable industry’s education foundation, administers the annual awards program in order to recognize outstanding educators, administrators, policymakers and other community leaders at the forefront of innovation in education. Commissioner Tate joined 11 education leaders from around the country who also received awards during the ceremony on June 18 at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC.
