ACTING CHAIRMAN MICHAEL J. COPPS ANNOUNCES
STAFF APPOINTMENT
In announcing that Jennifer Schneider joined his permanent staff today as a Legal 
Advisor, Acting Chairman Michael J. Copps said:
“I am enormously pleased that Jennifer is returning to the FCC to join my team,” 
Copps said.  “Her breadth of telecommunications experience in the private sector, on 
Capitol Hill, and here at the FCC will help guide us through the pressing challenge of  
promoting broadband deployment throughout the United States, as well as addressing the 
many other telecom issues that come before us.”
Since April 2007, Jennifer has worked as Legislative Counsel to Representative 
Rick Boucher, Chairman of the Communications, Technology and the Internet 
Subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee and senior Member of the 
House Judiciary Committee.  From September 2001 until March 2007, Jennifer worked at 
the FCC as an Attorney Advisor in the Wireline Competition Bureau and a Legislative 
Analyst in the Office of Legislative Affairs.  She began her legal career in October 1998 
in Washington, D.C. as an Associate in the Telecommunications Practice of Swidler 
Berlin Shereff Friedman, LLP (now Bingham McCutchen LLP).  Jennifer holds a J.D. 
from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and a B.A. with honors from Hamilton 
College.
Jennifer will primarily be working on broadband, universal service and wireline 
competition issues with Acting Senior Legal Advisor Scott Deutchman.  Rick Chessen 
remains the Acting Chief of Staff and Media Advisor and Paul Murray remains the 
Interim Legal Advisor for wireless and international issues.
