This is an Official Citation issued pursuant to Section 503(b)(5) of the Communications Act of 1934, as amended (“Act”),1 to Timothy J. Teligades for violation of Section 15.5(b) of the Commission’s Rules.2 2. In response to a complaint from a cellular carrier, Verizon Wireless, an investigation by the Enforcement Bureau’s Los Angeles Office revealed that on April 21, 2009, Teligades operated a Terk model FM-8500 amplified FM antenna, from a residence in Las Vegas, Nevada. The device was radiating an emission on the frequency 835.5 MHz. 3. Section 15.5(b) states “operation of an intentional, unintentional, or incidental radiator is subject to the condition that no harmful interference is caused…” The operation of the amplified antenna caused interference to radio communications from the cellular carrier, in violation of this section. 4. Violations of the Act or the Commission’s Rules may subject the violator to substantial monetary forfeitures,3 seizure of equipment through in rem forfeiture action, and criminal sanctions, including imprisonment.4 5.
