Samsock and Drexel: On November 19, 2009, pursuant to Section 308(b) of the Communications Act,1 the Commission requested a number of documents and additional information from the Applicants by December 3, 2009 (“Information Request”).2 On November 19, 2009, the Commission also released a protective order to ensure that any confidential or proprietary documents submitted to the Commission would be adequately protected from public disclosure and announcing the process by which interested parties could gain access to confidential information filed in the record.3 On December 1, 2009, Verizon Wireless requested an extension of time of sixty days until February 1, 2009 to respond to the Information Request.4 On January 25, 2010, Verizon Wireless requested a further extension of time to respond until April 2, 2010.5 On March 9, 2010, the Applicants requested a second protective order to provide additional protection to those documents and information contained in the Applicants’ responses to the Information Request that 1 47 U.S.C. § 308(b). 2 Letter from Ruth Milkman, Chief, Wireless Telecommunications Bureau, Federal Communications Commission, to Michael Samsock, Verizon Wireless, and William R. The Second Protective Order is being adopted and released concurrently with this letter. Due to the length of the granted extension of time for the Applicants to respond to the Information Request, we are temporarily stopping the informal 180-day review clock for this proceeding from the time the response to the Information Request was due on December 3, 2009 until the Applicants have submitted their responses to the Information Request.
