Wirelcss of FCC licenses and authorizations associated with 79 markets. These authorizations
arc being divestcd by Vcrizon Wireless in conncction with its acquisition ofALLTEL
('01'\10Iation. As you notc, many of the authorizations at issue in this procceding concern
wirc!L',s operatiolls in rural areas.
On June 22, 2010, the Commission adopted a MemorandulII Opiuiou and Order
approving the transaction with condition. To ensure that approval of this transaction serves the'
public interest, thL' Commission adoptcd several conditions, including conditions relating to
roaming. prcservation of service on the Pinc Ridge Indian Reservation, and a commitment by
A1,..... I 10 divest 15 megahertz ofspectrul11 in one Michigan market. The Commission expects
that Ihl;; transaction \I ill benefit consumers, particularly throughout much ofrural America. by
