Ms. Yang has spearheaded the Commission’s broadband priorities, as set forth in Connecting America: The National Broadband Plan, and has led the Plan’s integration into the broader Commission agenda. “Phoebe has been indispensable to the Commission’s efforts to take early and decisive action to implement the National Broadband Plan -- from leading the creation of the Commission’s 2010 Broadband Action Agenda to advising the Executive Branch on how broadband policies can spur innovation in addressing national priorities such as health care, energy, and education,” said Chairman Genachowski. “Her wise counsel, intellectual rigor, and exceptional management gifts have been invaluable to me and the agency, and the nation owes her a debt of gratitude for her outstanding public service.” Previously, Ms. Yang served at the Commission as General Counsel of the Omnibus Broadband Initiative and Chair of the Broadband Steering Committee. Her prior experience includes executive roles at Discovery Communications and AOL Time Warner, public service in the Clinton Administration, and private practice at Hogan & Hartson. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Virginia and Stanford Law School, where she was President and Editor-in-Chief of the Stanford Law Review. “It has been a true privilege to work with such a talented and committed FCC team on the National Broadband Plan and the first phase of its implementation,” Yang said. “Chairman Genachowski has been a good friend, and I am grateful for the honor of working for him to advance the vital mission of bringing the benefits of broadband to all Americans.” --FCC-- News and information about the Federal Communications Commission is available at www.fcc.gov.
