FCC RELEASES NEW DATA ON INTERNET ACCESS SERVICES  
Washington, D.C. – Reflecting continuing improvements in its broadband data collection and 
dissemination, the Federal Communications Commission has released its latest report on Internet 
access service in a format that allows better monitoring of subscribership trends.   
Among the changes in the latest report is a comparison of the advertised broadband speeds 
subscribed to by consumers and businesses and the broadband availability speed benchmark 
adopted in the Sixth Broadband Deployment Report.  Titled “Internet Access Services: Status as 
of December 31, 2009”, the report also includes the following upgrades and updates:
· Snapshot view of the prevalence of broadband connections in four representative speed 
groups 
· Perspective on broadband adoption over the past decade
· Added demographic information that correlates age and race with subscribership    
The data are based on information submitted to the FCC every six months by providers on FCC 
Form 477.  The full report can be downloaded at www.fcc.gov/wcb/stats.
