Clyburn released the following statement in honor of Lori Kenyon’s announcement that she would be leaving the Regulatory Commission of Alaska on May 6, 2011: “Sections 410(c) and 254 of the Communications Act recognize the cooperative role for the Federal Communications Commission and state regulators to ensure a well-functioning telecommunications market that serves all Americans. Lori Kenyon has embodied the promise of cooperative federalism. As State Staff Chair of the Federal-State Joint Board on Jurisdictional Separations, she has played a crucial role in engaging with all stakeholders to make the Joint Board proceedings a truly collaborative process. In addition, Lori’s work as a state staff member of the Federal-State Joint Board on Universal Service has proven similarly effective in helping the Joint Board focus its energies on policies that promote the public interest. Her institutional knowledge of universal service and separations issues has been invaluable. I thank Lori for her years of leadership and her tireless service to the Joint Boards and the Alaska Public Service Commission, and I wish her well in her future endeavors. Lori’s good humor and affability will be sorely missed.” Lori Kenyon has served as the State Staff Chair of the Federal-State Joint Board on Jurisdictional Separations since 2005, a State Staff Member of the Federal-State Joint Board on Universal Service since 1997, and a Telecom Committee Staff Member of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners since 1986. She served as a State Staff Member on the Federal-State Joint Board on Jurisdictional Separations from 1996 through 2005 and on the Federal-State Joint Board on Alaska as both a State Staff Member and State Staff Chair.
