Over 300,000 Nebraskans are currently denied access to better health-care, education and jobs made possible by broadband internet service. That’s more than double the national average. (18% unserved in Nebraska vs. 5-10 % unserved nationwide.) FCC Chairman Genachowski will tour small businesses that have flourished as a result of broadband access. He will then meet individually with families and residents in neighboring areas that have no broadband access at all. Finally, he will participate in an open workshop to collaborate with state-level colleagues as part of an ongoing effort to bring the benefits of broadband to every American – and close the rural-rural digital divide. Chairman Genachowski will be joined at the workshop by FCC Commissioners Michael Copps and Mignon Clyburn. In addition, Chairman Genachowski will be joined by Congressman Lee Terry throughout the day.
