Once approved, this merger will allow AT&T to significantly expand and strengthen its broadband network, better serving constituents in Northern California and nationwide. In order to maintain our nation's long term economic growth, it is essential that we bring 21 st century wireless infrastructure into areas not currently being served, and to strengthen pre existing networks to allow consumers faster download speeds and fewer dropped calls. This merger will allow AT&T to bring high-speed mobile service to over 97 percent ofthe US population, including expanded areas within my district. In addition, because ofthe lack ofavailable wireless spectrum needed for the latest technology demanded by consumers, carrier like AT&T are currently facing a "spectrum crunch." This crunch stems from the exponential growth ofdata demanded by users owning smartphones and similar devices. Ifapproved, this merger would bring the added benefit of increasing the spectrum available to AT&T, allowing them to expand its latest-generation 4G broadband network. Many communities in my district clearly gain expanded and improved service under this merger. It is my strong hope however, that ifand when this merger is approved, AT&T will remain committed to continued critical infrastructure investments in the remaining rural communities who do not yet enjoy access to their services. Again, I urge that you and your staffs approve this important merger between AT&T and T Mobile USA. Thank you in advance for your consideration and please do not hesitate to contact me or Tim Daly on my staffat 202-226-7367 should you have any further questions or require additional information.
