FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE NEWS MEDIA CONTACT: November 8, 2011 Joshua Cinelli at (202) 418-2000 STATEMENT BY COMMISSIONER MICHAEL J. COPPS ON THE PASSING OF FORMER FCC COMMISSIONER KENNETH A. COX “It was with sadness that I learned of the passing of former FCC Commissioner Kenneth A. Cox. Mr. Cox compiled a long and admirable record in behalf of the public interest. Appointed to the Commission by President John F. Kennedy in 1963, Cox quickly demonstrated uncommon mastery of the facts at issue in the many important proceedings that came before him during the seven years he served. He came well-prepared for the job, of course, having already served as Chief of the Broadcast Bureau. He had an abiding commitment to broadcasting that would truly inform citizens and enhance the civic dialogue. The Commission was a better place for his having served here.” - FCC -
