November 23, 2011 FCC TO HOLD OPEN COMMISSION MEETING WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 30, 2011 The Federal Communications Commission will hold an Open Meeting on the subjects listed below on Wednesday, November 30, 2011. BUREAU SUBJECT 1 OFFICE OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY TITLE: Amendment of Parts 2 and 95 of the Commission's Rules to Provide Additional Spectrum for the Medical Device Radiocommunication Service in the 413-457 MHz band SUMMARY: The Commission will consider a Report and Order that allocates spectrum in the 413-457 MHz band and adopts service and technical rules for Medical Micropower Networks, which rely on new types of implanted medical devices that use functional electric stimulation to, among other things, restore sensation, mobility, and function to paralyzed limbs and organs. 2 WIRELESS TELE- COMMUNICATIONS, WIRELINE COMPETITION AND CONSUMER & GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS Commission staff will provide a presentation on the Commission’s recent broadband adoption efforts, including a first-of-its-kind national effort to address the barriers to broadband adoption, digital literacy and the employment skills gap.
