BQl: 20515 January 20, 2012 The Honorable Julius Genachowski Chairman 445 12th Street SW Washington, DC 20554 Dear Chairman Genachowski: We are writing to express our concern about the ongoing retransmission consent dispute between Sunbeam Television and DirecTV, which is affecting more than 200,000 DirecTV subscribers in Greater Boston who have been left without their normal access to Channels 7 and 56 since last Saturday. Such suspension ofservice could become even more serious for these customers if, as we hope, the New England Patriots win the AFC Championship Game this Saturday and advance to the Super Bowl on February 5 th • We make no representations as to the merits ofeither side's position, as these are contractual discussions between private parties. We have written to both companies encouraging them to remain engaged in good faith negotiations and noting that Sunbeam has agreed to temporarily restore its signal during the upcoming NFC Championship Game on Miami's Fox affiliate WSFN-TV to mitigate the impact ofthe dispute on customers in that market. (See attachment) Clearly, the public interest would be served ifcarriage is restored by the parties at the earliest possible opportunity so that consumers are no longer disadvantaged as a result ofthis dispute. Accordingly, we request that you take action to bring the parties together so these negotiations can be concluded in an equitable and expeditious manner and the signal restored. Consumers should not be caught in the middle. We look forward to your response. Sincerely, ~~d~~ Edward~ary ~~ Richard E. Neal ~~~6~~ Barney Frank • ohn F.
