FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION May 29, 2012 JULIUS GENACHOWSKI CHAIRMAN Tbe Honorable Amy Klobuchar United States Senate 302 Hart Senate Office Building Washington, D.C. 20510 Dear Senator KJobuchar: Thank you for your letters regarding the Commission's efforts to curb cramming. I value your thoughts and leadership on this very impol1ant consumer issue. The work of the Commerce Committee and its staff report were instrumental in informing the Commission's cramming proceeding and the Order adopted on April 27.2012. [ understand your concern about the potential problem of cramming involving wireless services. Although the Commission concluded that the record before it did not satisfy a need for rules to address cramming involving wireless - as well as VolP - services at this time, it requested additional comments in the Fur/her No/ice ofProposed Rulemaking about wireless and VolP cramming, and intends to monitor all consumer cramming complaints closely. If the record from the Fur/her No/ice demonstrates that there is a need for rules to address cramming involving wireless or VoIP services, I am committed to Commission action on the issue. In the interim, we will include your letters in tbe record of the Further Notice proceeding for consideration as part of the Commission's review. I appreciate your interest in this matter. Please let me know if I can be of any fUliher assistance. Sincerely, Julius Genachowski 445 12TH STREET S.W. WASHINGTON, D.C. 20554 • 202-418-1000
